We are looking for a Workshop Technician with a background in electronics AND mechanical assembly who likes the variety of learning a number of parts of the production process.
To assemble, repair, calibrate, test and pack products in accordance with approved specifications, procedures and quality standards. The role supports production, quality and continuous improvement activities to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently and to customer requirements.
This role would suit an experienced production technician who has perhaps worked in both electronics assembly and mechanical, who enjoys the opportunity to fault find, and repair but also work alongside colleagues to come up with repair solutions. Ideally 3 years within a similar environment, but if you have most of the experience the client would be prepared to offer training on specifics of their product range.
Production & Assembly
- Assemble products in accordance with approved drawings, work instructions and specifications.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical assembly activities to required quality standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Support production activities to meet delivery schedules and operational requirements.
Calibration
- Perform calibration activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Ensure calibration records are completed accurately and maintained.
- Verify product performance against defined specifications.
Testing
- Conduct testing of PCB assemblies, sub-assemblies and finished products in accordance with approved procedures.
- Record and maintain test results and supporting documentation.
- Diagnose and investigate faults identified during testing.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Escalate non-conformances or technical issues as required.
Repair & Fault Finding
- Repair products in accordance with company procedures.
- Carry out fault finding activities on products, assemblies and electronic systems.
- Support engineering and quality teams with investigations and improvements.
Packing & Dispatch Support
- Pack products in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Ensure products are protected and correctly labelled prior to dispatch.
Systems & Documentation
- Accurately update Odoo/MRP records.
- Complete production, calibration and test documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure traceability records are maintained.
Continuous Improvement
- Support internal audits and quality initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for process, product and quality improvements.
- Raise change requests where improvements are identified.
- Contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
Training & Development
- Participate in internal and external training programmes.
- Maintain competency requirements in accordance with the company skills matrix.
- Support knowledge sharing and cross-training activities.
- Ensure workstations remain clean, organised and safe.
- Ensure tools, equipment and test equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
- Report equipment defects or maintenance requirements.
Cross-Functional Support
- Support other departments when required.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Customer Support teams
General Responsibilities
