Mobile Field Service Engineer – Heavy Goods Vehicle

About the Role

ASL Technical is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer of specialist heavy goods vehicles and equipment. We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Mobile Field Service Engineer to join their UK Service team. You’ll play a critical role in delivering top-tier servicing and repairs, providing outstanding support to customers across your region.

This is a field-based position involving travel to customer sites, with occasional overnight stays and participation in a rota-based 24/7 callout system.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out efficient, high-quality repairs and servicing of products at customer locations.
• Communicate clearly and politely with customers, keeping them informed throughout the process.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards for your van, tools, and equipment.
• Complete all service documentation and timesheets accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate stock records for parts and ensure correct usage reporting.
• Promote service and parts offerings when appropriate.
• Follow health & safety protocols and represent the brand professionally at all times.
• Work independently under your own initiative while remaining a team player.
• Provide technical feedback and market intelligence to support product development.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in a Field Service Engineering role – ideally within plant, commercial vehicle, or municipal equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• Confident working on hydraulics, pneumatics, and fault diagnostics.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight.
• Flexibility to take part in a callout or late-shift rota.
