Agricultural & Estate Operative

Our client manages a 3,000 acre estate on the Sussex Downs and is looking for a practical, experienced person to join its land management team.

This is a varied, hands on role with agricultural work at its core. We are looking for someone who is confident operating tractors and agricultural machinery and who has practical experience of maintaining agricultural land and infrastructure.

Day to day work is varied and will include tractor and machinery operations, stock fencing and repairs, maintaining gateways and tracks, ditch and drainage work, repairing and replacing culverts, and operating larger plant and specialist machinery.

The wider role covers woodland and habitat management, firewood production and general estate maintenance, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to use their existing agricultural skills while developing experience across a much broader range of land and estate work.

This would particularly suit someone from a practical agricultural background who enjoys machinery and outdoor work but is looking for greater variety and more traditional working hours.

A full UK driving licence and previous tractor experience are essential. Experience with excavators, dumpers, chainsaws or similar machinery would be a strong advantage
