Manual Machinist

Are you a Vehicle Development Machinist Technician seeking a new opportunity?
ASL Technical are now working with a leading high-performance automotive manufacturer as they look to expand their Vehicle Development Machinist Technician team.


Main Purpose of Manual Machinist

To support the manufacture, build, and test of prototype vehicles, rigs, and development components by producing high-quality machined parts. You will play a vital role in the research, development, and testing of innovative automotive technologies through precision engineering.


Responsibilities of Manual Machinist

  • Operate CNC and manual machinery to produce one-off and small batch machined parts to high standards.

  • Collaborate with workshop and build teams to support prototype vehicle builds, bucks, and rigs.

  • Manage and prioritise simultaneous machining tasks to meet demanding project deadlines.

  • Conduct maintenance and care of workshop machinery and tools.

  • Maintain high levels of health and safety compliance at all times.

  • Be available for additional hours or weekend work as required by project schedules.


Experience / Knowledge for the Manual Machinist

  • Strong experience in machining precision components using both CNC and manual milling and turning equipment.

  • Experience in the use of XYZ and ProtoTRAK machine tool.

  • Background in general engineering gained through an apprenticeship or equivalent.

  • Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and CAD files (CATIA experience desirable).

  • Experience with modern metals and composite materials used in high-performance automotive or aerospace sectors preferred.

  • Good understanding of motor vehicle systems is advantageous.

  • Confident in self-inspection and quality control of machined parts.

  • Competent computer literacy skills.
